PomJob and I go way back in Internetland--I can't remember when we first ran across each other, but I know it's been years. And I'm not even going to tell you how many of those years it took me to finally get the euphemistic joke that is her internet handle/real life nickname. I tell ya, my mind is just as clean and pure as the driven snow. (And speaking of snow, I've got to throw in my vote for Alaska!)
Hi everyone! I’m PomJob and I’m your guest blogger today while Angela is off gallivanting. Angela – hope you’re having a great time on your unstructured trip!
Last year, as an early birthday present to myself, I bought a house. Then I got laid off. So it’s been a long while since I’ve treated myself to something pretty. I recently celebrated the big 3-0 milestone (YIKES! How am I 30?)
Here’s my belated birthday wish list. (One drawback of being single is not having someone to buy me (and pay for) extravagant gifts. That’s OK, this way I’ll get what I want.) Which of these pretties should I buy myself?
The wedding registry holy grail. Since I’m not getting married anytime soon, maybe I’ll buy it for myself.
I have an SLR but my point-and-shoot was eaten my by parents’ recliner. I really miss a little camera to keep in my purse.
Floor space is limited in my house but a wall-mounted wine rack would also help solve the pesky, “What do I put on my walls?” conundrum.
Yet another piece for the house. Isn’t this beautiful?
A college friend moved to Alaska a few years ago and I’ve always wanted to visit. This could be the year!
Since those heart bracelets and necklaces became the status symbol on my college campus, I’ve wanted something in a little blue box. I love that this is simple and affordable. Give me monogram or give me death!
Speaking of birthdays, here’s a gift for you:
I designed this for a coworker’s birthday. He’s from Lancaster County, Pa., and I made him Whoopie Pies to match. You can download it here.
What was the last gift you bought yourself?

I love the title of this post-reminds me of the movie 13 going on 30! I love my mixer and dutch oven, but I would take the trip to Alaska if I were you. It seems like a once (maybe twice) in a lifetime opportunity so I would pay the fare and hop on a plane! The mixer, dutch oven and others are gifts you can buy yourself whenever you want, they'll always be around. I know Alaska is not going anywhere either but that would be an experience instead of just stuff. Just as a side note: I am pretty biased though because I have a 2 1/2 year old and would DIE to go on any kind of vacation that didn't involve packing my whole house. Good luck!!!

I'm with Solange. Half of that stuff, you can either put on your future wedding registry or buy for yourself any ol' time. But for a 30th birthday? Take that fabulous trip. You'll cherish it for years to come!

Thanks for the feedback! I did end up buying a few of the smaller items but agree that most can go on my Christmas list or registry. :)
The trip will have to wait - my house flooded again so I have to fix that first.
And BTW - I am about as clean-minded as Angela. I actually never called the other girl by her nickname (and kind of hated that my sorority sisters weren't more ladylike) but since mine is less dirty (although phonetically it sounds as bad) I used it when I started blogging.
