Through the magic of the internet, I am able to visit the future and bid you all a fond farewell while I am already in a land far, far away. Or maybe I'm just a few hours up the coast. THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW! Or if you follow my blog's fancy little Facebook fan page, I'll try to update with some pictures over there.
Tell me though, what is it like in the future? Have people started commuting in flying cars yet? Have we finally made contact with intelligent life on another planet? Is the DOW up or down? Have we switched to using bread as currency and using our leftover dollar bills as toilet paper?
Things here in the past are fairly uneventful as far as usual pre-vacation activity goes. The dogs have been dropped off at "camp", we just got back from my third trip to Target in as many days and I'm pretty sure I'll need to fit in one more before we leave. I've got all of my clothes laid out, but can't quite commit to putting them into a suitcase because I have NO IDEA how to pack for temperatures ranging from the 60s-80s when I've been living in a hellhole of 100+ degree days with 400% humidity for months now.
Saturday arrived with no airplanes heading to Germany, and Sunday there's the chance of hopping first to Dover then overseas. Should that fall through, Monday there are a couple more options, but I just keep reminding myself that this is free, the Air Force owes us nothing, and I WILL NOT be that asshole melting down in the terminal because Uncle Sam won't give me my vacation. If it works out, great, if not, well, I hear D.C. and Boston are just sweltering lovely this time of year.
That said, I have an amazing lineup of guest posters to share with you over the next couple of weeks. I know there's always the temptation to skip over guest blogs when they pop up in your reader, but I promise you, you will not regret taking a moment to read what these lovely ladies have shared. There are moving stories about life as a military wife enduring a difficult deployment, exciting descriptions and memories of dream vacations, humorous and touching experiences with infertility, and so much more. I am really excited to be sharing each of these posts, and I hope that you'll make all of my guests feel very welcome.
Now I'm off to stare at my closet for another few hours, and maybe actually put a few pieces of clothing into a suitcase. At least I've decided on what shoes I'm bringing. It's a start.

Hope you're having a wonderful trip!

I hope everything worked out, and you're not sitting in an airport with a rain delay--we got hammered here in the PA/NJ/DE area with a couple of big storms!
