I haven't watched a full season of American Idol in... oh, two years if my blog is any indication. The last contestant I remember getting vaguely excited about was Alexis Grace. And I'm pretty sure she was kicked off early in the season. And actually, I think I might have stopped watching at that point. Who won that year? Was that David Archuleta? Clearly he has done well for himself.
Anyway, point being, I was pretty much over it. Even my love for Ellen couldn't bring me back. But if there is one thing I love, it is a trainwreck. If there is another thing I love, it is something awesome.
I figure, with these clowns gracing my screen for the 2011 AI season, I am bound to be treated to a trainwreck. If by some miniscule chance they bypass trainwreck and stumble headlong into awesome, well, all the better for me!
So, prepare yourself, because I am about to get super pumped about some mediocre singers, vaguely Mormonesque crooners, punk-rock wannabes, and if I am a very, very good girl, maybe a J Lo/Steven Tyler twinsies duet. Fingers crossed, y'all!
Anyone else sheepishly returning to the fold now that Snarky Simon and Boring Kara have jumped this sinking ship?
I have it set to DVR tonight, but I am still not convinced that I will watch it. However, I have yet to skip a season, so I will probably get sucked in.

I stopped watching a couple of years ago, too. If I am missing something awesome or awesomely horrible, let me know!!!

Well, I do love seeing the highlights (as such) on The Soup, if that counts. . . I am sure they will have something to say about the new judges!

I was never intrigued by American Idol and now I avoid all things Ryan Seacrest on principle. But holy hell, Steven Tyler looks super creepy in that photo!

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised to find myself excited about this season. Maybe I just needed to detox!

Oh my gosh, definitely! I'd love to hear Joel's take on it, ha!

He looks like the Madame Tussaud wax version of himself...

Well, I've only seen the one episode so far, but not gonna lie, Steven Tyler feeling the need to duet with all of the contestants and shriek-sing all of his thoughts is pretty awesomely horrible ;)

I have pretty much watched it all along, although I did not watch the first season. The audition episodes are pretty predictable, but I'm interested to see how it is when they get into the main competition.

No not David Archuleta, it was David Cook. :)
I could not agree more about Steven Tyler and wax resemblence! LOL So far we've really enjoyed watching the try outs, I like the change, but none of them are mean whatsoever! I hate to admit I kind of miss Simon. ;)
P.S. By the way, I got a blog too! It's pretty empty right now, but I'll work on it this week.

Yep, I gave up quite awhile ago. Pretty much the only thing that tempts me is getting to see what JLo is wearing each episode.
I'm glad you're getting into it... if it's awesome I'd consider climbing on board AFTER the audition episodes!!
Leaving the House in THIS?!?!
